We improve the conditions of workers throughout the world thanks to the new ISO standard 45001
ES approved the first international standard of management for safety and health at work. The set of more experts of 70 countries have reached the agreement to improve practices in the implementation of a system of occupational health and safety, with the aim of improving the conditions of workers around the world.
The new publication of the ISO 45001 entails the cancellation of the referential OHSAS 18001, Therefore, the companies containing this certificate must migrate to ISO 45001 within a period of three years. The standard of ISO 45001 next March will be published.
To prevent the statistics of 7.600 people killed by accidents or illnesses labour relations, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) develops the ISO standard 45001. Thanks to this standard describes a system of management of safety and health at work, with the aim of constantly improving within the work environment.
The main advances of the new standard include the strengthening of the role of senior management in the leadership of the system of management of safety and health at work, as a significant part in their business strategy. Also, It places more emphasis on the context in which the organization works and its risk management; not only limited to the negative effect of uncertainty, but also to take advantage of the set of circumstances that can lead to the improvement of the performance (opportunities). For all of them is the structure of common high-level management documents used in the world, ISO 9001 (Quality) e ISO 14001 (Environment), with what organizations already certified in these reference will have easier implementation.
In turn this standard involves the cancellation of the OHSAS 18001. In March it will be verified and it is expected that with the publication of this standard aborts the OHSAS standard 18001, currently implanted in more of 130 countries.
