Prevent occupational hazards through the gamification
The importance to ensure that staff work safe and comfortable in their work has direct impact for companies.
First, We will make a brief explanation of what is meant by gamification. We understand by gamification to learning that transposes the mechanics of the games to the educativo-profesional field in order to obtain better results.
Why is the use of the gamification in the prevention of occupational risks required?
We start from the conception of prefer the pleasant and the unpleasant reject. For this reason, to achieve that the worker meets the security measures without the need of someone having to supervise it, It is necessary to investigate and explore other forms where the security measures being seen in such a way that please the worker.
Using gloves that cause sweating is not pleasant, to wear a helmet that can weigh or, perform lengthy security formations. And a set of things associated with safer behaviors that are unpleasant to the worker.
To prevent that the worker is unmotivated or fails to comply with rules that threaten their labour safety, the companies must use gamification strategies to make attractive or motivating to be compliant with the possible discomfort. The gamification has the potential to return something unpleasant in something sexy or fun.
A good example of gamification applied in occupational health and safety would be to establish the strategy for the implementation of a "Bonus Card of prevention", where would the worker accumulate points each time that you perform the following actions:
-It provides feedback to a mate who commits an unsafe Act.
- Report an unsafe condition.
- Proposed improvement initiatives and to lose your points whenever it is seen committing unsafe.
- Report an unsafe condition.
Three categories would be created: low level would be category silver, intermediate level would be gold and high level obtained Platinum.
Thus the worker shall receive security in a more pleasant way. Workers would be from the other earrings, helping less unsafe acts occur, which leads to a lower number of accidents at work and in turn fewer days lost by low medical. Half of those days which is decreased in the period of implementation of the strategy of the "Bonus for the prevention" they are distributed as free paid days for workers with more points.
